These are Wisby “D” Lamellar plates as found from the finds at Wisby circa 1367AD. Very similar style lamellar was found at the Garrison of Birka, circa 950AD
Our plates are made from T6- 6061 Alloy Aluminum which makes them very strong yet light.
A standard armoured vest from our plates takes approx. 400-550 plates depending on size. A 500 plate vest fits my 6′ tall, 220 pound frame with a lightly padded gambeson on. It weighs in at 8 pounds for the vest.
Please add in the T6 line the following addition. The plates are .063″ (1/16″) thick and have 8 holes.”
The plates have a lightly tumbled finish to deburr the edges, and to remove some of the inherant shininess.
We also do color versions of plates in a black and a brass/broze color.
The standard D plate is 45 cents each, if anodized they are 65 cents each.
We have a center plate option as well. these are 90 cents each, or anodized for $1.10 each.
